The last 5 years has been an incredibly challenging time for our profession with so much nutrition-nonsense in the media and online. In my ideal world, people would turn to the qualified nutrition professionals for dietary advice and become warier of what they read in the media, wellness bloggers, and anyone else who gives unsubstantiated nutrition advice.

I started talking to people about what I was doing and one day my friend asked me why I never went to school for nutrition. I did not have an answer, so resigned from my position in fashion and enrolled in a nutrition program. After completing my PhD developing the malnutrition screening tool (now used around the world), I worked in Research & Development and then Marketing (after obtaining my MBA) for a nutrition company in the United States for 8 years. I then moved back to Brisbane, Australia, to take up a management position in a large hospital as Director of Nutrition and Dietetics with more than 30 dietetic staff. I now work in a rather unique role as the founder and director of my own business Dietitian Connection.
